The Science of Ink Removal
Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser delivers ultra-short, high-energy pulses of light that are selectively absorbed by tattoo ink particles. The rapid energy absorption causes the ink to shatter into microscopic fragments through a process called photoacoustic fragmentation.
These tiny fragments are then gradually recognised and eliminated by the body's own immune system — macrophages engulf and remove the shattered ink over the following 6–8 weeks. Each successive session shatters the remaining ink further, progressively fading the tattoo until it is significantly reduced or completely removed.
The Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser operates at two wavelengths: 1064nm (targeting black, blue, and dark inks) and 532nm (targeting red and warm-toned inks). This dual-wavelength capability makes it effective on a wide range of tattoo colours.
