I did my MBBS at PSG here in Coimbatore and my MD in Dermatology at JSS Academy. I worked as a Senior Resident at KMCH before joining DermaVue, where I now consult full time. So I trained in this city, left it for my postgraduation, and came back.
Fungal skin infection in India has changed over the last decade. The organisms respond differently to the older treatments, patients have often used a steroid containing cream from a pharmacy before they reach us, and the rash by then looks nothing like the textbook picture. I worked on a scoring study in tinea, which was an attempt to measure severity properly rather than describe it loosely. I did the same thing in pigmentation, in a scoring study on melasma. Two of my papers were indexed in 2025, one in Mycoses and one in the Indian Journal of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology.
I have also worked on herpes zoster, including a case complicated by optic neuritis. Shingles near the eye is not a skin problem alone and I am careful about that.
Dermatoscopy is part of how I examine. I consult in Tamil, English, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam.

Where did you train?
My MBBS is from PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research here in Coimbatore, 2014 to 2020. I did my MD in Dermatology at JSS Academy from 2022 to 2025, and I worked as a Senior Resident at KMCH before joining DermaVue. My Tamil Nadu Medical Council number is 147860.
My ringworm keeps coming back even after tablets. Why?
Several reasons, and they usually occur together. Courses are stopped early once the itch settles, the same cream is shared within the family so reinfection continues, and steroid containing combination creams bought over the counter change how the infection looks and behaves. I treat the household, not only the patient.
My melasma comes back every summer. Can it be sorted out for good?
Melasma relapses, so the aim is control and maintenance rather than a one time clearance. I published a scoring study in melasma, which means I measure yours at the first visit and again at review, because that is the only honest way to tell whether a treatment is doing anything. Daily sun protection is most of the work.
What is dermatoscopy and what happens during it?
A dermatoscope is a magnifying lens with its own light source that is held against the skin surface. Nothing is cut and nothing is injected. It shows structures in the upper skin and hair follicle that the naked eye cannot resolve, which is useful in hair loss, pigment patches and unclear rashes.
I have shingles and my eye feels affected. Should I see you or an eye doctor?
Both, and quickly. Herpes zoster involving the branch of the nerve that supplies the eye can affect vision, and I have worked on a case of zoster with optic neuritis. I will start the antiviral treatment and refer you to ophthalmology the same day.
Which languages do you consult in?
Tamil, English, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam. The Malayalam is useful more often than you would expect in Coimbatore, and I would rather a patient describe their symptoms in the language they think in than translate for my benefit.
